West Wales Golf Alliance - Home

Welcome to the official website of West Wales Golf Alliance. The website has only recently been launched and information will be updated on a continuous basis, as and when it becomes available.

West Wales Golf Alliance has a busy schedule of golf events that run mainly through the Autumn, Winter and Spring seasonal months and visits some of the best golf courses that South and West Wales has to offer. Each field is made up of both amateurs and professionals from local golf clubs and plays to a fourball betterball medal format.

Although we have a strong membershp base, new members are always welcome. Find out more about West Wales Golf Alliance by having a look though the other pages on the website and get in touch if you're interested in taking part in future events.

THE GOWER GOLF CLUB

The 8th competition of the WWGA 2011/12 season was held at THE GOWER GC on Friday 27th April with an entry of 24 x 4 balls. The weather in the preceeding few days had been horrendous and none of  of the earlier starters travelling to the Gower expected the competition to be played due to the heavy rain. However the course was in excellent condition and only minimal surface water affected a couple of the fairways and all greens were in play. Play started on time and the weather improved later in the morning and the late starters had reasonable conditions in the afternoon.

The winning pair Gavin Godbeer and Llewelyn Miller (both playing off 5 handicap) were from The Gower GC and obviously benefited from local knowledge carding a magnificent 63, 3 shots better than 2nd Place pair of Steve Bromham and Dudley Lewis also of The Gower GC. Congratulations to Gavin Godbeer who also achieved a 'Hole in One' at the Par 3 9th hole.

A big thanks to everyone at The Gower GC for the excellent welcome given to the Alliance on the day and for the opportunity of playing on a course that was still playable despite the amount of rain that had and was still falling during the competition. The Alliance Captain Mr Ed Morgan passed on his thanks to the Green staff.
